The Edge of Shadows

If you watch the edge of a shadow —
stand still and silent
so not to disrupt the flow —
you can see its edge move,
eon slow, steady momentum

Advancing or retreating —
edged dim and bright,
cutting into the future —
carving out the now,
creating an instant; our past

The relentless march of time we fear —
marking our passing —
our going into our coming.
If you remain still enough,
earth moves around you
