If I Try

If I Try
I’m certain, if I try,
that I could walk away
into those sheer steel mountains
And if I walk without thinking,
I might burn the same blood gold
as the rocks drenched in afternoon sun
And if I walk without seeing
I might fade to invisible
unseen by bird or tree
And if I walk without moving
I might travel as far as the monarch
upward to the sea,
the sea…
